Blubel – Smart Bicycle Bell

An ESA incubated company based here at the Harwell Campus has developed a smart bicycle bell.

Blubel is a sat-nav in a bicycle bell that learns from the cycling community to find the safest routes. It connects to a smartphone app and navigates the way for cyclists using a simple interface mounted on the handlebars. The particularly clever part is that every time Blubel’s users ring their bell we’re collecting this data, and – in conjunction with other data such as roadworks information – using this to find the safest routes for cyclists.

If you interested in getting hold of one there is a Kickstarter page at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/372524908/blubel-the-cycling-navigator-powered-by-community although there is only five days left to back the project.
