There are future developments both on and off site that could affect cycle routes and facilities the two main developments are:
1) Didcot Great Western Park - This is a large housing development on the west side of Didcot and straddles the Wantage road which many cyclists use as a route to the Harwell site via Harwell village and the Winnaway. Issues that will affect cyclists:
- A new traffic light control junction on the Wantage road.
- an off road cyclepath from Foxhall road roundabout all along Wantage Road to the new traffic light junction.
- a large increase in traffic on the roads and in Harwell village.
- a proposed new cycle route through Harwell village and down cow lane into the new development.
2) Development of Harwell Science & Innovation Campus. Will the new development contractor ensure that cycling is taken into account when planning infrastructure and cycle facilities included in the design of any new buildings?
- How will the new hotel complex affect the cycle route running in front of it (North of Curie Avenue where the houses are boarded up)?
- Will a new path connecting Fermi Avenue and Harwell main gate be re-built.
