I have raised this by email with Jenny Hannaby and Jane Hannah who are the relevant County Councillors to see if they can get it solved as a whole, and I will raise with them in person if they are at Grove Parish Council’s meeting this evening (7.30pm at Old Mill Hall for your information).

As long term cycle commuter from Grove to RCaH I think it is great that they looking to provide additional cycle storage but I agree with the comments of horfalli about these two-tier units. These look like those at Didcot Parkway and I would not like to use them having seen them being used. I think there is enough space around the RCaH to provide more suitable cycle racks. I think we should also encourage them to consult cyclist residents of RCaH including those currently working from home – I haven’t heard anything about it from them yet.

I have Bontrager puncture resistant tyres which also added slime to and have so far got away with using the track 4-6 times a week since it was laid. At least I have no symptoms of puncture, though I may have multiple slime-filled holes I suppose…

Yes, it would great to get an update about that. That’s not only where most of the mud comes from for me, but it’s the only place I have come off my bike a couple of times and also got literally stuck due to slipperiness and grooves in wet weather.

Yup. I’ve been avoiding as many of the filled holes as possible because I feel like I may slip on the loose chippings.

I have been cycling from Grove along the 544 for 2.5 years and I agree with Dimitris about the state. Serious potholes and ruts in many places – I nearly gave up a couple of months ago after cycling in all weathers and seasons until now. But if it is dry and light it may not put off a beginner who is happy to take it slowly.

P.S. If you want a cyclist on Grove Parish Council, please vote for me!

Is it really necessary to have a cyclists dismount sign? As resident of the RCaH I have never heard of a problem here, and whether it is formally a footpath or not, there is a lot of room. If there has been an a collision there it must surely be due to inconsiderate/carelessness, rather than the simple fact that there was a cyclist. As such is a sign going to make a difference? Is there any evidence that banning cycling in places where considerate cycling is safe does any more than stopping those who would take care anyway?

Yes, thank you for your efforts on this. I have proposed to my fellow Grove Parish Councillors that we endorse this in our response to the Local Plan.
