Hi,
does anyone know if Blenheim Hill will be closed for cyclists/pedestrians wheeling bikes while it is closed? If not, are there any “minimum diversions” people can share?
Cheers

From the Council Roadwork map, it says there is not a diversion in place. one could read that as, the road will not be closed but it’s not definitive. just stated as Severe Roadworks for 250 meters.

More info here from the local county councillor. http://www.harwellparish.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/09.06.16-Blenheim-Hill-Grove-Rd-closure-article1.pdf.
The road will definitely be closed to motor traffic (5.5m deep hole in it!). You should be able to get past with a bike.

Hi, is anyone using Blenheim Hill to get from to site?
I was just wondering what it was like to get past on a bike? -

I went past last night. There’s a 5m long section of pavement, with low kerbs either side, that takes you past the roadworks. Almost never any pedestrians there so you probably won’t need to dismount. I passed about 10 cyclists coming the other way along the closed road so it’s being well used. Enjoy it while it lasts.

That’s great news, thanks for the reply. I shall enjoy the quiet road!

I’ve been going that way every day and it seems fine to get through along the pavement. I had to get off and walk the bike through part of it this morning to get around the workmen and lorries, but they were quite polite about moving out of the way. Its nice and quiet along the rest of the road from Didcot and through the village 🙂

Signs have now been put up, by HarBUG, letting cyclists know that access through Harwell is available.

Just an update: That’s Blenheim Hill open to motor traffic again. It was nice while it lasted!
