Icknield Way East (Pothole Alley) – Now re-opened(ish)

The County Council have finished the work on the Icknield Way from the A34 Hagbourne Hill Bridge to the A4185 and it is now re-opened. Improvements have only been made on the section between the A34 bridge and the Holloway, this is due to Chilton Interchange works traffic using the section from the Holloway to the A4185 crossing. The Chilton Interchange contractors will be responsible for repairing that section at the end of April, when the works are complete. If you have used the Hagbourne Hill route over the past year you will know that this is the worst section on the whole route and we are going to have to wait before it gets any better.

The Icknield Way towards Upton has been re-opened between the A34 Hagbourne Hill bridge and the Campus but it is not finished.

Hi, does anyone know if and when they will be finishing the lower section of Icknield Way from the Holloway to the A4185 Newbury Road?

The lower section is due to be finished when the work on the new Chilton Interchange slips has been completed. There has been some surface material ‘thrown down’ over the past week but, hopefully, this is not the finished surface. HarBUG has a meeting with the County Council in a couple of weeks, this is one of the points we will be bringing up.
