For information – There has been lots of discussion about this path on http://www.fixmystreet.com including input from council staff.

Also very sorry to hear about this, what a stupid thing to do.

Given the poor support that was received from the police, how about writing to our MP to share frustration and see if the police would reconsider and put some effort into identifying a white van in the area with part number plate of XXXXX, there might not be too many of them?
Perhaps if an email was sent from HARBUG by someone to the MP it might get a response? I for one would like to see this person punished for their actions and made an example of.
After all the government is always banging on about wanting to increase cycle use.

Sorry to hear you got knocked off Kevin, glad you are not too badly injured.
The same thing happened to me in Abingdon last week at a roundbout (at dusk / I was fully hi-vised and lit up) … I saw the guy in a commercial van look straight at me (through me?) and then pulled out right into my path, I managed to swerve and avoid him. He was apologetic when I caught up with him though which made me feel a little happier.
I’m not sure what else I can do to stop this from happening, I have read the RAF chaps article.
I had a motorbike for many years, the only way I found to keep safe from cars pulling out of side roads / roundabouts was to fit a loud-ish exhaust, so if they didn’t see me hopefully they would hear me. It seemed to work but cant be applied to cycling!
