Hi, I am wondering if anyone has any experience of the Wahoo Bolt when using it for off road navigation?

My Garmin 800 turned itself off last night on the ridgeway and won’t turn back on. So I started to look at Garmin replacement and shocked at the rise in cost since I bought mine. I really need a Garmin that can handle my OS Map SD card as I’m led to believe the Garmin base maps aren’t that great off road. So I’m looking at the Edge Touring Plus which is similar to the 800 but a little old and clunky now. I refuse to pay £360 for the Garmin Edge 1000 with all it’s bells and whistles.

I saw the Wahoo Bolt and it looks good and slick and easy to use and download maps etc and waterproof. The only thing that bothers me is people say the map can get confusing in busy mapping areas as it is black and white screen.

Has anyone got experience of either devices, partiularly for use off road using navigation?

      Thanks in advance.

I use the Garmin 520 and was under the impression the Bolt was comparable to that rather than the 800, but I may be wrong as I’ve not used an 800.

There’s a great in depth review of the Bolt from DC Rainmaker here – https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/03/wahoo-elemnt-bolt-in-depth-review.html
He’s always very fair and covers everything in his reviews.
