Wantage to Harwell Science Campus trail

Yes, the last piece of track into the Campus from the Wanatge direction is in a bad state and needs re-surfacing.
HarBUG has been trying to get funding for this work. We have several ‘irons in the fire’ and whichever becomes available we will take. Most recently the County Council has put a bid into the Government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and one of the projects in the bid is to re-surface this stretch with Tarmac. However it is a bid and their is a chance it will not be awarded and the money does not become available until March 2015. Fingers crossed.

That is indeed good news but I, too, wonder if there is anything that could be done to improve that strech temporarily (i.e. until and if it would be re-surfaced with tarmac). Currently that is the slowest section of the route to Wantage and it alone is responsible for at least 80% of the mud on my bike. I’m thinking of something similar to that path parallel to Ninth Street (although that itself is also in need of some maintenance).
